I burnt myself? HELP? URGENT!?
Ok, so I was making toffee in the microvave and it totally burnt when I tried to take it out it was extremely HOT! so I grabbed a bit of paper towel and took the bowel to the sink i took out the paper towel because some of it got in the toffee and when i took it our a big bit went between my middle finger and ring finger it also went on my hand a bit an dI've put it under water and i've got ice blocks with me but it still REALLY HURTS! I did it about 20mins ago. What should I do? urgent!

its the next day and I now have 4 blisters, they are sorta painful, but i can handle it
Run tepid (room temperature) water over it for at least 20 minutes. You can really run it or soak it for as long as you want. Don't use ice because it actually causes frostbite & can damage your skin worse than it already is. DO NOT use Neosporin, creams, gels, butter, pee, or whatever home-remedies you have heard of- they trap the heat & make the burn worse. Being that you already have blisters, make sure you keep them clean. Don't pop them! You'll just open up a wound for infection. If they do pop on their own, wash with soapy water & cover with a band-aid (keep it clean). Watch for signs of infection (redness & swelling to the area, funky-colored oozing, odors, etc.). This doesn't really warrent a trip to the ER, since they'll just tell you the exact same thing I've already said. Do, however, go see your family doctor if you do see signs of infection or if your burn doesn't seem to be getting any better after a few days! Good luck!
