Container plants for front door ?

I have two large container pots by my front door . I want to plant a perennial plant that blooms all summer and will not get to big . Just a little something by the steps to add color . Something I will not have to replant every year . Right now I think a red pintos or little plum . Pleae give me some other plant to chose from .

Daylilies, specifically stella d'orro. They bloom most of the summer. Roses also do good in containers. The landscape shrub roses will bloom most of the summer.
