what drinks did they have in the 1850s during the gold rush?

whats drinks did people have in the 1850s during the gold rush and did they still use britan pounds during the gold rush?

Booze, whiskey, scotch, rum, American bourbon, beer, wine.
Honestly, most alcohol was long invented before the American Revolutionary War.
Including American bourbon, made by Scottish distillers using local grains and Scottish whiskey distilling methods... the result... Jim Beam and Jack Daniels.
The reason the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock was because they had run out of beer 300 years earlier.
Homemade wine was a kitchen table standard all over the country.
People drank tea and water, kids drank cow and goats milk.

As for currency..... people used American coinage of silver and gold.
There was some paper currency available that was silver and gold backed that was sponsored by certain banks.
But silver and gold coinage from Britain, Spain, France, was all over the place.

It was interchangeable.

Even the word "dollar" .... German Taler, a word that eventually found its way into Danish and Swedish as daler, Dutch as daalder, Ethiopian as talari, Italian as tallero, Flemish as daelder, and English as dollar.
