Did I improperly preserve my Cordial?

I am making Berry Cordial using the recipe at the following link: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Berry-Cordial/Detail.aspx it says 'seal the jar' I've seen tincture recipes before (with herbs) that don't require canning; the vodka being a preservative. In this case though, should I have canned these using canning jars with the wax seal or is this unneccessary as you want the product to ferment and vodka is a natural preservative( in other words you don't need to refridgerate alcohol)?

Haven't seen the recipe but the alcohol does act as a preservative. However, contact with air might change the taste of the cordial. I don't think that you will get fermentation after you've added vodka.
